This headline doesn’t need anything else. I hate to even write about the man and give him even more publicity, but a topic of this manner needs to be addressed.
Donald Sterling (He Who Must Not Be Named or HWMNBN for short) shouldn’t even be in the NBA as this article is being written. As soon as those audio tapes came out, that should have been the icing on the cake.
For those of you who don’t know, HWMNBN is the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. TMZ leaked audio recordings between HWMNBN and his girlfriend, V. Stiviano. In these recordings, HWMNBN reminded the world that racism is very real and still exists today. He told her that he did not want her taking pictures with black people, bringing them to games or publicly associating herself with them. I’ll link the recording below if you want to get the full gist of it.
You know what is the worst of it all? This isn’t the first time. Nope, we’ve known that HWMNBN was a racist for quite some time.
Starting to understand why I want him gone right this second?
HWMNBN had been accused of refusing to sell real estate to blacks and hispanics, he’d been sued by an employee for race discrimination and publicly criticized for his heckling of his own players from the sidelines, especially Baron Davis.
These recordings must be the end of HWMNBN. When you say that you do not want black people at your games, you are basically saying you don’t want the relatives of the black players to be there. Do you even want the black players on your team? Seems like he sees them as paid slaves.
How can a blatant racist still be allowed to own a team in a league that is over 75% black.
This is just unfair to the Clippers players. Clippers’ head coach, Doc Rivers, is black. The Clippers’ best player, and NBA Players Association President, Chris Paul, is black. The Clippers have very serious things to worry about, like beating the Golden State Warriors to survive the 1st round of the NBA Playoffs. They do not need this right now.
There were questions as to whether or not the players should play or protest. What a horrible position to be in.
You dream your whole life of playing in the NBA playoffs and eventually winning a Championship ring. You don’t think of winning it for the Clippers. You don’t think of winning it for an owner. You think of winning it for yourself. You want to win for your teammates, the people you go to war with. You do it for your coach. You do it for your family. You do it for your legacy. You do it to show your grandchildren your Championship ring one day.
You don’t do it for a blatant racist like HWMNBN.
Donald Sterling should be kicked out immediately. David Stern stepped down as NBA commissioner halfway into this season. This is new commissioner Adam Silver’s first major issue to deal with. Make a statement. Kick Donald Sterling out of the NBA.
